Worst fanfic ever review
Jun. 21st, 2003 04:17 amYou know, I thought I've seen everything. I think this takes the cake, as I dub this the WORST Yami no Matsuei fanfic I've ever had the horror to come across.
I will not be held responsible if you poke your eyes out after this review.

Title: Forbidden Love
Author: animefanatic
Genre: Tradegy/Romance (NOT Parody)
Rating: PG, probably higher for character death
Warnings: Um, okay, character death, blatent OOC, references to Romeo and Juliet, ebil!Konoe (The author spelt his name wrong. ~_~;;;;;), character abuse to Tatsumi, Watari and Konoe, a jealous other character
Couple (if applicable): Tatsumi/Watari
Plot: 0/10 - The plot is just... awful. Because it makes NO FUDGING SENSE! It's a Tatsumi/Watari story gone BAD. And not only that, but I don't think there's a law that would prevent Shinigami loving each other of the same sex (Besides that, it's okay for them to have male/female relationships but not same sex relationships??? Wtf?). It's possible, but it's done in such a poor manner in this fic that it makes me want to curl up in a corner and cry and not because of the tradegy that's pulled off in this crappy fic.
Writing: 1/10 - The reason why this doesn't get a 0 is because it's readable. It's been at least spelled and grammar checked at the basic level, although there's some bad spellings here and there and comma splices.
Other than that, the flow of the story is off. The author doesn't go into any explaination of why male/male relationships are forbidden, only that they ARE. Description is to the bare minimum, the dialogue is cheesy, corny and flat. The author tells rather than shows. The flow is messy as well... Sigh...
Characterization: 0/10 - None of the characters are regonizable. Tsuzuki and Hisoka, thank the gods, are absent from this piece of filth with the exception of the end of the story. Konoe suffers from blatent character abuse, as I've always viewed him as a kindly father figure. In this story, he's the demon spawn from hades.
Tatsumi and Watari are just... out there. And they manage to get killed TOO easily. If Tatsumi ended up in this situation, he would KICK ASS. He is NOT the type of person to be pushed around. He has power on level of Tsuzuki, come ON! He would try to reason with Konoe and if he STILL didn't listen, and even threatened to KILL him and Watari, then Tatsumi would probably jump and defend himself and Watari, even if that meant he and Watari had to escape Meifu and be on the run. They would NOT get captured so easily.
Negativities: Blatent character abuse of the WORST kind, a stupid jealous OC, evil demon!Konoe, melodramtic plot, a tradegy that seems like a parody... Every single thing you want wrong in a fic, this fic has it, save grammar and spelling.
Summary: HERE we go. Tatsumi and Watari discover their 'twu luv' at Oriya's resturant of ALL places. Apparently, though, it's forbidden for males to fall in love of the same sex, so they need to keep their love affair a 'secret'. And to hide their 'twu luv' affair, Watari gives Tatsumi his 'sex changing potion' which apparently, he finally made, so that it looks like he's dating a woman. Yeah, it's okay for them to have a male/female love affair, but not a male/male one??? RIGHT...
Now we add in Watari's jealous cousin, who finds out about the love affair and blabs his mouth to Konoe, who is pissed off and orders Watari killed. Of course, Tatsumi and Watari are just STANDING there, and crying their eyes out when they're locked away. The day of the execution arrives and Watari is about to be shot, but lo and behold, our melodramtic!Tatsumi takes the bullet for him and DIES! Yeah, that's right folks, dead, caput, meaning for good! One of the most POWERFUL Shinigami in the division dead. And apparently, angsty!Watari can't take it and shoots himself too.
There's your plot. That's it to it. And we have our melodramtic last lines:
On the tombstones, the epitaphs were simply engraved:
"Never was a story of more woe
Than this of Watari and his Tatsumi Seiichiro"
*Pukes* What is this, a bad spinoff of Romeo and Juliet????
Overall - 0/10 I am NOT giving this... thing... the right to points. This is an insult to Tatsumi/Watari fics, it really is. I know there's been a flux of Tatsumi/Watari fanfics but... just ARGH! This is character abuse of the WORST kind. I do like Tatsumi/Watari fanfics but this... is worse than the WORST Tsuzuki/Hisoka fanfic I have EVER came across. I don't think I've ever come across a fic this bad that I actually wanted to print out and BURN.
