Comments: Er, this sounds like a Sue/Stu, but it isn't. It's something, well, different, for a change.
I'm making blatent assumptions in this fic too. I'm assuming everyone has an office, even the people who are never seen there, but they spend most of their time in their own Cho.
Also, apparently something is wrong too or I'm not reading it correctly. Watari works for the HenJouCho block (Section 6), according to the lecture part in volume 1, but Kazuma and Nonomiya work there too (Section 1 and 2), but in the Peace Division (volume 9). So are there people working in each block for the Peace Division or did I miss something?
If anyone can clear it up or find something wrong, let me know.
This will probably be the last YnM fic I do for some time now.

Oh, Tatsumi-san told me to show you around the place, since you're new here and all. And we wouldn't want you getting lost! Although my partner and I don't come here often... Oh, don't give me that look! I won't get us lost!
Let's see... Let's take a left here...
This is the main part of the Division, where everyone's office is. See, even though most of us work in different Chos, we have an office at the main building, just incase. Most of us aren't here though, as we spend a lot of our time in our own assigned area.
The first office door there is Terazuma-kun and Kannuki-chan's office. Kannuki-chan is such a sweetie. She likes to bake and brings sweets every now and then to the break room. I'll show you that later. Her partner, on the other hand, has a short fuse. I'd suggest you avoid him for now.
Huh? Why? Well, he's not a people person. And if you're with Tsuzuki-san, there is a one hundred percent chance you'll piss him off. And... He doesn't do well around girls.
What, you think that's weird? It's because of Kuro-chan! Who's that? You mean what! If Terazuma-kun gets close to a girl, he'll change into Kuro-chan, a big black lion!
Why are you shaking your head? Eh, whatever... Let's move on to the next office...
This office is always empty because the Shinigami are busy in their own section. A lot of offices are like that or some Shinigami don't use the offices here at all. Like I said, we do our work at our specified Chos and only come here if we need information on a case. We use our offices to fill out paperwork too.
This office... Oh, I forgot about Shin-san and Kochou-san! You might see them every so often, but don't be frightened by them. They work for the Peace Preservation Bureau. They come by every once in a while.
Huh? Yes, both are female. Eh? Hehe, don't let appearances deceive you. They're part of the Bureau for a reason. They've had a lot of combat training and all. Just like most people here, don't piss them off and you'll get along well!
Let's see... Oh, this office is Chizuru-chan's! She's not here very often and works alone for now. She's really nice, but it's sad we don't see her often. I don't know her very well. Tsuzuki-san might be able to tell you more about her.
Anyways, next office... Oh, this is Watari-san's! But you won't find him in his office at all. In fact, I don't know if he ever used it, but it exists.
Why doesn't he use it? Because he spends all his time in the lab. He's not only a scientist, but he's the doctor around here. I'll show you where the lab is later.
Next... This office is empty... I don't know who works this Cho... And this one...
Oh, this is our office! My partner is out though, probably shopping. I'll introduce you two later. We're not here often, but if you need help, just let us know!
Next office is... Oh, Tsuzuki-san and Hisoka-kun's office! Tsuzuki-san is the most popular Shinigami around the office! It doesn't seem that way sometimes, but everyone likes him!
And you have to see Hisoka-kun! He's so cute; he's the perfect person to be Tsuzuki-san's partner! It's a shame he won't put on the Pink House dress...
Huh? Yeah, Hisoka-kun is a guy. Why would I want to dress him up in a dress? Because he would look so cute in it! I'm so jealous! He will make a perfect bride for Tsuzuki-san someday...
Hey, wait up! I didn't finish showing you around! Next, take a turn to the right... Oh, this is the library! The GuShoShin twins run the library... Oh, there they are now! Hi!! I'm just showing the new recruit around!
Well, shall we go? What? Floating chickens are weird? You'll get used to them around here.
Let's see... Oh, this is Konoe-san's office. He's the boss around here.
Although, between you and me, the real boss behind the divisions is Tatsumi-san. Why? Well, everyone listens to Tatsumi-san. And... He’s scary when he's mad. Especially when you see the shadows move around when he's yelling at you.
Let's see... Oh, this is the lab! Let me see if Watari is in! Oh, Watari-san!
Hmmm, it doesn't look like he's in now. Oh, you can look at the lab, it's a little messy...
What? All the glass around the floor and the black tiles and smoke isn't a 'little messy'? You haven't seen how messy Watari-san can be, so we'll leave it at that.
What? Of course this is supposed to be an infirmary too! Didn't I tell you that? Why are you shaking your head again? Hmph, let's move on.
Next is... Oh, this is the meeting room. We gather here when a case shows up that requires our attention. Here, we share information that's been gathered on a case. We also use it as a discussion room. And it's a good place to throw a party too!
The last place is... ah, the break room! It doesn't look like anyone is around even though it's lunch hour. Tsuzuki-san probably went to a restaurant and Hisoka-kun probably went with him. Sigh... I wanted to show him a new dress... He should be back soon though!
Oh, there's my partner now! Yuma! I'm right here! I'm just showing a new recruit around!
Ah, I didn't even tell you my name! It's Torii Saya. If you have any questions... Well, I guess you can ask one of the Shinigami walking around. We'll be here for a few days, so you can come to me first.

Date: 2004-07-19 12:16 am (UTC)Point 1: If you haven't read the manga, this is going to be confusing and most likely, you're not going to understand many things. Because you don't know who these people are, and actually, that's how you're supposed to feel, in the end, considering the rushed job Saya did. The point was to put yourself in the shoes of a Shinigami who knows nothing about the office and Saya does the introducing. Saya is a female Shinigami too, the purpose of this fic was doing 2nd person and doing another character I have yet to explore.
If you don't know who Saya is, it makes the fic even more of a burden, because you can't connect with her, and it sounds like 'names' being said from the anime. So I'd probably not recommend reading this unless you've read the manga.
Point 2: Again, the point is no description but mostly dialogue. In fact, there is no description commonly in 2nd person fiction, period.
Saya is talking to 'you', so it would be weird if I suddenly had 'Person trips over chair in the middle of the floor'. And it would ruin the mood, because you're supposed to feel like you're there.
I probably could've added in more details, like maybe about procedures and copy machines and computers and all though. Will consider that.
Point 3: There's a plot to this??? O_o;; No, there really isn't. There's no smashing plot or overly dramatic piece, that's not what I intended at all. @_@;; It was supposed to be a simple play on the 2nd PoV again.
This is supposed to be a short, 'Show the n00b around' type of thing, from another's PoV.
The better example would be to read this fic that I wrote for Gravitation. If you don't like the style of that, then it's probably because you don't care much for the 2nd person PoV, which is okay, cause a lot of people hate it. :/

Date: 2004-07-19 10:12 pm (UTC)I've also read the Gravitation fic, and have come to the conclusion that I'm not much of a fan of second person POV, because I'm too egoistical to forget myself and see how others imagine I might think. I keep going "But I didn't ask that!". I guess I'm just too narrow-minded for my own good, no? -_-;;
One thing that I wanted to clear up, though. By descriptions, I didn't quite mean the "person trips over chair" kind. Actually, I was thinking of the "Watch out for that vase over there--that one, the one with an orchid motif" kind of description. Nothing too in your face, but something that can give me an idea of the things around me.
Then again, upon rereading, I realise that "we" didn't enter most of the offices, so it's probably impossible to add more description. -_-;; Sorry about that, I should have looked more carefully first.
