"I'm still not seeing it," Hisoka said, shaking his head at Watari.
"That's because you're not looking hard enough, Bon."
"I've been looking at it for at least ten minutes..." Hisoka murmured under his breath. This was the last time he was going to 'do a favor' for Tsuzuki for a long while!
All he had to do was deliver a simple message to Tatsumi's office. Which went without interruption on the way there. On the way back, however, Watari spotted him and insisted on showing some new design he had for an invention. And, of course, Watari had to play a 'guess the object!' game, and wouldn't let him go back to his office until he figured it out.
But after 10 minutes of staring at the lines, he still had no idea what it could be.
"It looks just like squiggly lines to me."
"Look harder!"
"I am looking!"
"Um... What are you guys doing?"
Both of them turned their heads. Of course, leave it to Tsuzuki to come to Watari's lab to escape the inane-ness that was paperwork.
Hisoka opened his mouth, but it was Watari, however, who spoke first.
"I'm showing Bon here my latest design!"
"I still say it looks like a bunch of jumbled lines," Hisoka murmured, crossing his arms.
"Let me look," Tsuzuki said and took the paper from Watari. Hisoka expected Tsuzuki to say the same thing, especially when he flipped the paper upside down twice and kept cocking his head.
"Mmmm... OH! It's supposed to be a toaster oven, right? But instead, it had buttons to adjust the temperature instead of the knob, which is right... here?"
Hisoka's jaw almost dropped open when he heard Watari say, "You got it right, Tsuzuki!"
Hisoka remained perfectly quiet while Watari and Tsuzuki chatted away about what color the buttons should be and where they should go exactly. It was when they left the lab that Hisoka asked Tsuzuki, "How the heck did you know what Watari drew on that paper!? It looked like scribbles from a five year old!"
"Well..." Tsuzuki stated and looked at Hisoka, "If you convince yourself that it's scribbles, then it'll be scribbles in your mind."
"What?" That was an answer that Hisoka wasn't expecting.
"What it comes down to is your own perceptions versus another's. If you don't consider what the artist sees, then you'll only see what you want to see," Shrugging his shoulders, Tsuzuki smiled and added. "Simple answer: Ultimately, it's how you look at it that makes a difference."
He watched Tsuzuki walk away and waited for the answer to sink in. After a minute, he shook his head and headed toward the office.
